The sensation while I was opening this nectar was : the fall of Berlin’s wall, MIchael Jordan won the second slam dunk contest , I was 6 years old attending the first class of primary school .
History behind a bottle , history behind a label .
This wine , is absolutely amazing . 1989 is a great vintage , a success for Margoux and for Palmer above all . One of the finest Palmer . Red ruby color , almost dark, glycerine and alcohol well balance , jammy nose of black fruits ( plumb, raspberry , blackberry ) floral scents , wooden notes , truffle touch , red pepper and a bit of spicy notes ( black pepper , cloves ) , licorice , the leather and tobacco are coming , still hide in the back . Acidity is good , still fresh with a fantastic tannin , soft but still in movement , medium to full body , elegant , fine .
Aftertaste ? Long and incredible.
Now is approachable , but it can age for 8 years more , at least .
Note : this Palmer was our second bottle , after Latour 1988 , as aperitif . Unbelievable .
